Natalie not only modeled but designed and made this dress for her 8th grade Advanced Art Project. This was quite an en devour for the two of us. First of all, I was her sewing teacher and my 25 year old sewing machine was her sewing tool. Need I say more? We did it... and she was BEAUTIFUL!

Seven great friends and a fun afternoon together. I have to admit...my favorite part of this whole birthday party was listening to their dinner conversation. They each shared their most embarrassing moment and were laughing hysterically together. Happy Birthday Savannah!

Eighteen years old and ready to take on the world. The month of January has been busy and very eventful for this LQHS Senior.

Two years old to eighteen, in the blink of an eye...where did they all go and how is it possible for them to disappear so quickly? It is such a reminder to enjoy every step of the way and every minute of the day.

Why so early?

5:30 am came entirely too soon this morning! Devin tried telling me that they had cancelled Seminary for the week and I really wanted desperately to believe him... but I knew otherwise. I think I look for excuses, even more so than the kids as to why there might not be seminary. I know in my heart there are rewards for those that make the sacrifice to get up early every morning and study the scriptures. However, I just can't help but ask why...why does it have to be so early? I have so enjoyed my Christmas Break with evenings spent staying up late watching movies by a warm fire. Even better is slipping into bed late at night knowing there is no alarm to set. Here's to a New Year and to many more years of setting alarms!

Twas the day before Christmas

Oh my! Can it be Christmas Eve day already? It's been such a great month...really impossible to try and back track and recapture all of it so I guess highlights will have to do. I think taking our Christmas Card photo would have to be number one on my list. Picture a stack of greasy old railroad ties, kids in bare feet, chickens running around, a goat jumping over the top of the family, a pile of weeds in Gerald's pocket, chicken feed on top of Savannah's head, Gerald's gruff demanding voice, Savannah's sweet little 9 year old friend Emma behind the camera and lots and lots of laughter! This is our life in a nutshell...quite comical everyday! The key ingredient to it all is laughter...lots and lots if it. Can't get enough of it...it feels good, looks good, and is magic to my ears.

Second on the list, but none less comical than our family picture was Devin's water polo banquet. It was a beautiful afternoon on the pool deck eating carne asada and laughing hysterically while watching the water polo team play a game of inter tube water polo against their fathers. Again...lots and lots of laughter. Final score was LQHS Team 8 - Old Guys 7

Devin was honored as one of three Seniors this year.

The last highlight of the month actually happened at the very end of November. We took a final trip to our condo in San Felipe. It wasn't our normal Mexico get-a-way, being that we have sold our condo and had to move everything back. Upon arriving at 2am in the morning, we found that there was no water or electricity working and to top it off...no clean sheets on the beds! Gerald managed to get the water working and with flashlights in hand we founds pillows and blankets and a soft place to sleep. The weekend was busy selling and packing and moving but we did manage to find time for a walk on the beach picking up sand dollars and a good old fashioned game of football. It was sweet to hear the kids all talk about each of their memories throughout the years in San Felipe. Again, lots of laughter...

Laughter really is the best medicine of all!

So, I have to admitt...I've gotten a little used to making all the decisions around here lately! Gerald has been so busy the last few years making things happen everyday that I have assumed the role of making all the decisions for our family and kinda telling him how it is. It's my way of relieving him of having to think about one more thing in his busy day or maybe I am still rationalizing why. Anyhow, I was quite offended last night when Gerald came out and told me what our Saturday would consist of. He most definitively did not realize I already had the day figured out and he didn't even have the courtesy to talk with me before making his plans!

Silly me...when I stepped back from the little picture to take a look at the big one, I realized I was simply getting a taste of my own medicine! So here it is...Gerald, thank you for wanting to spend your Saturday with me and your four children. You reminded me last night of one of the many reasons I fell in love with you ...you have a keen way of knowing what I need and an even keener way of always get what you want... I Love You!

Great things come in small packages

Savannah (also known as fish bait or little shrimp around the house) had her first flag football game this week. She is playing corner back for her elementary school and having loads of fun despite the fact that there are only 3 girls on the team out of 31 players. This does not discourage or intimidate Savannah in any way. In fact, it probably puts fuel on the fire and motivates her to be even better.

Natalie and I had fun watching Savannah and her teammates defeat the Lions 18-12. I have to admit...I was getting a little frustrated at the number of missed tackles she had and was relieved Gerald wasn't able to make this particular game knowing his patience level is much different than mine. In me heart, I felt she could have done better!

At the close of the game the cheerleaders formed a victory tunnel for the players and the game wouldn't be complete without snacks right? All of this fluff for a elementary flag football game! I was done and ready to move on to the next thing on my to do list. Coaches gathered their players together for a pep talk and then I find out that after each game, the coaches award a offense and defense player of the game. Another 15 - 20 minutes for sure!

Through the years, I have learned the art of breathing deep through my nose and exhaling long and hard through my mouth. Somehow this helps get rid of those negative comments and thoughts that come out at the worst of times. I was actually counting how many games we had left, trying to make sense of why we were doing this.

As I approached the huddle to hear what the coaches had to say, I was impressed by their positive comments and how they really built the kids up. The offensive player was awarded a football and then the coach began talking about the defensive player. She commented on how important it was for each player to to their part and if they did their part the team as a whole would be successfully. The defensive player of the game was Savannah! The coach went on to compliment Savannah on how well she played her position and was always in the right place at the right time. "A great defensive player is not determined by how many flags they pull, it is about playing the position correctly and being ready".

I was reminded this week by a elementary school P.E. teacher that I need to be a better cheerleader! I need to do a better job living in the now and learning the lessons that are being taught around me and my children during our every day lives.

Thank you Savannah for reminding all of us daily that great things do come in small packages!

My Boys Of Fall

There is something about the Fall...I have to admit the desert's warm weather confuses my Pacific Northwest senses a bit. However, the cool mornings and evenings are welcome and nothings beats the view of the mountains just after the sun sets. They turn a deep dark purple and the sun behind them radiates a glow of pink, orange, purple and blue. This best describes my view just after half time as I'm watching the sun go down at Blackhawk football game.

The view at a water polo game is much, much different. Quite a few less clothes are worn which is really amazing because this sport is just as rough if not more so than football. Their practices are tough. In fact, the football coaches have been known to send their players to the pool to get in "real shape". As you can imagine, this poses to be a good discussion around our household.

Bottom line...The Boys of Fall are strong, dedicated, focused and love what they do whether it be in the pool or on the field.

Life is Good

There are lots of great things to focus on at this time in our lives. As challenging as it may be at times to raise teenagers, it really is a great phase in life as we watch our children grow, become teenagers and develop into young adults. The days are very busy and we all seem to be going different directions as we do and accomplish great things every day. I'd have to say my favorite time of day is when everyone finds their way back home. This happens in stages...the girls and I are the first to get home and they are always on task doing their home work and quickly make their way out to the goats (we added 2 goats to our family the end of August). I really cherish their ages...probably more than I did with the boys because I now realize how quickly my role as a mother changes once High School begins. I really love the time the girls and I have together without any "men" around the house. The dynamics of the house change drastically when that testosterone enters the room especially after tough football and water polo workouts!

Trevor and Gerald are usually the second to come home. The smell of football is evident as they both enter the house. Gerald is an Asst.Coach for the LQHS Freshman Football team again this year and Trevor is playing JV. As Gerald disappears to his office to finish up some end of the day emails and scheduling, Trevor wastes no time finding something cold to drink and surveys our dinner plans. He is always very honest about whether it's to his liking or not (thank you Trevor for always being so honest). Believe it or not... even after practicing for 2 hours... Trevor is always trying to pull together a family football or baseball scrimmage before the sun goes down.

Devin stumbles into the house third with blood shot eyes from a combination of chlorine and lack of sleep. His hair is gradually turning a brassy shade of brunette which gets lighter and longer every day. After 3 1/2 hours of water polo practice his step is a little less peppy and it's very evident he's happy to be home and finally let down for the evening or at least until he gears back up to do homework. He's happiest when dinner is a high carb meal and we are all amazed at the amount of food he can eat in one sitting.

Gradually throughout the evening every ones day unravels in bits and pieces of conversation between one another. Sounds of laughter...thoughts and suggestions...feet up on the couch...icing soar muscles...last but not least...family prayer. The perfect way to end any kind of day~

August Rush

School right around the corner once again. It'll be a big this year with three out of the four kids at the top of thier school. Devin will be entering his Senior year, Natalie is eighth grade and Savannah will be top of the elementary school as a fifth grader... FUN STUFF. Now if I could only master the art of slowing it all down a bit! Can I be honest? I feel like I just graduated from High School myself! How is it possible to already have one of our children making plans to leave home? Just doesn't seem possible! I am learning to roll with all these firsts in life. I'm not quite sure what this next school year will bring but I am confident it is bound to be very eventfull and exciting for us all. We are all feeling the August Rush a little as we do every year. So many last minute things to do before school starts.

What started as a duck rescue from El Paseo shopping district, ended up being more like the movie Fly Away Home. Devin is well know as an animal lover and he gets frequent phone calls looking for advise when it comes to animals...especially strays. It just so happens that the cute little homeless duck is a beautiful goose that within two months time is now flying over the tree line to visit the private golf course and the refreshing ponds it has to offer. It has been super fun watching Devin care for the goose (baby girl). I've decided raising Geese is alot like teenagers. They start out in life following every footstep until they realize they have wings and can fly! It doesn't take long for them to venture out on their own and as parents all we can hope for is that they don't stray too far from home.

I turned 22 years old again... except this year I have 18 years experience being 22 years old (great line Lynelle). I woke up to birthday balloons, streamers, flowers and the day ended with a great meal at Joe's Crab Shack. Gerald threatens to trade me in for two 20 year olds. Travels to Utah

We really look forward to our Summer visits to Utah. This year, Nathan Fox was getting married and we just couldn't miss that! It's also a perfect excuse to escape the desert heat for awhile. We had a fantastic trip with something fun and eventful planned everyday but most importantly...we all returned home safely with no trips to the hospital! Our first fun adventure was the Flow Rider. I think everyone fell in love with the challenge (The boys actually went twice in the same week).

We of course spent time with Grandpa and Grandma Gibb riding horses and the zip line.

Our trip to Thanksgiving Point was Devin's highlight for sure. While checking out the chicken coops, he found out they sold fertilized eggs! As you can guess...before leaving for home he purchased 12 eggs of different varieties which are now in his incubator growing and will hatch around August 2nd.
My favorite is always the hiking we get to do while in Utah. This trip we hiked to Stewart Falls in Sundance which took us right next to the fall and the snow covered ground. It was very cool... (literally) and we ended the hike with a polar bear dip in the ice cold run off.

You might say that the cherry on top of this whole week was the Kenny Chesney concert!!!Thank you Aunt Lynelle

We had a hard time saying good-bye... so Lynelle and Mitchell followed us to St. George and we did another hike in Zions National Park before finishing the last leg of our journey home.

Upon arriving at the school for my normal daily pick-ups...I was eagerly kidnapped by Tori and Devin. With smirks on their faces it was evident they had different plans for me. I was first delivered to the nail salon for a much needed pedicure and was told there would be someone arriving to deliver me to my next destination. Second on the agenda was a 60 minute massage. My vehicle was left in the parking lot with a note to drive home. Upon arrival the table was set and dinner cooking for Gerald and I to enjoy while the kids disappeared for the evening. What a great Mother's Day!

We are in the middle of California State Testing in all of the schools right now. Savannah recaps every day with me when she gets in the car after school. We discuss how many questions she feels she got wrong that day. Her school work is so important to her... it drives me a little bit crazy at times I must admit. But really, how can I fault her for that?

We had a great Easter this year being surrounded by Hampton Family. Natalie has been experimenting with cup cake decorating and having fun with it. My only requirement when making the cupcakes is that she have someone in mind to give them to so we don't all turn into cupcakes from over consumption!

Just few more weeks of baseball and softball and the last day of school in June 9th. This school year had flown by! I am still trying to figure out how to slow it all down...nothing I have tried has worked thus far. I did manage to get a great picture of Trevor smiling though. That is a feat in itself!

Devin's chicks were asked to help prop an Easter photo shoot. It was a really fun morning and Devin got some great pictures with his chickens. He has started delivering pizzas until hired to lifeguard for the summer. We are loving this time of year as the weather is perfect!

The kids left for their annual Spring Break Trip with Grandma and Grandpa Hampton and Gerald and I were able to escape to our San Felipe Condo to celebrate our anniversary! It was a great trip and wouldn't have been complete without fresh pina colada's on the beach...yes...made out of the back of an old Ford! You gotta love Mexico! We had a great time relaxing on the beach and laughing at all the white bodies that were turing shades of red from too much sun. To our suprise, when we got back to the condo and we were also a pair of those white beach bodies that had turned a bright shade of red. We decided that we really don't do a very good job taking care of eachother without the kids around...even after 20 years of marriage.

Baseball & Softball

The month of March has been jam packed full of ball games. If we are not watching Savannah play softball we are watching Trevor play baseball and for Gerald there is no break because he is coaching both! He's getting pretty good at doing a uniform change in his truck on his way to the next field and I am getting pretty darn good at cracking and spitting sunflower seeds. I really do love this time of year! It is the cutest thing to hear Trevor talk to Savannah about the game and what she can do to improve. They both play the position of catcher so Trevor is full of pointers. They also have the same coach in common which comes with pro's and con's that can be shared amongst eachother. Preston came to one of Savannah's games and loved it. I think he was more excited about sitting in the dug out with the girls and chanting the softball cheers than anything. As soon as the game was over he couldn't get on the field fast enough to run the bases.

Somebody Loves Me...

So I post this and that about the kids... why do I find it so hard to share about myself? That question remains to be answered. I was talking to my sister Sydni this morning and when she asked, "How are you?" I decided to be very honest and share in the fact that I really hate Monday's! I hate feeling like I'm in the same routine that starts over every Monday morning and repeates itself day after day after day after day. Then Friday gets here and I'm too tired to get excited about doing anything. There was a time that Fridays had a cool feeling about them. The days where there was anticipation of what kind of weekend fun I could get into as a teenager are long gone and I have come to accept the fact that nobody appreciates who I am or what I do! I know what you're saying..."Do you want some wine with that cheese"? So at the close to yet another Monday of being an alarm clock, housekeeper, choufer and personal chef, I sit down at my desk and find this written on a sticky note just above my computer.

"I love you Mom! You're a great person and I admire all you do!" - Savannah

A few weeks ago I was looking over my calendar in the office and also found a hand written note from my 17 year old.

"Mom You Rock!" - Devin

Okay...that puts it all back into perspective! I love my life, I love my job and I'd do it over and over again any day of the week!

Time Slips Away

For the past couple of months as I've pondered just what in our lives has been blog worthy, I have found myself making the decision not post! Then it hit me... there has been no major events in our lives that have driven me to update our blog and that in itself is the very reason to post! It seems like our families major events have involved a trip to the hospital these last few years. In my subconsious...no news was good news...

We have had an incredible winter and begining to 2011. Our Holidays were filled with lots of family time which is tough to come by these days with us all going different directions. Gerald pulled us together for a "New Years Resolution Pep Talk". This year was different from the past and the kids were very excited about their short and long term goals. With the the power of positive affirmations and reading our goals daily, we are already beginining to see signs of attaining some of the goals that we have set.

I think it is easiest to summarize the last few months when I focus on each individual so here it goes...

DEVIN
Devin continues to perfect the art of being a chicken farmer. For Christmas he recieved a incubator and sucessfully hatched 12 healthy chicks the end of January. We also celebrated his 17th birthday and he just returned from another amazing Youth and Government Trip to Sacramento. It was just two years ago that he broke his neck while sledding (feels like yesturday). Devin's focus these days seems to be on figuring out a way to fill his gas tank every week. A special thank you to all those recyclers out there that donate in his behalf.

TREVOR
Growth...would be the one word to describe Trevor the last couple of months. Physically, Mentally and Emotionally. The transition into High School Sports has been an intersting one and Trevor has kept a positive attitude through it all. He and Devin are continually arguing over who is bigger and stronger. Despite Devin loosing a couple of inches after breaking his back, he will not allow his little brother to pass him up. Devin's philosophy is this, "It's not the size of the boat it's motion of the ocean". Trevor constantly has us all laughing. He has a way of reaching in and finding somthing to make each of laugh about no matter what the circumstance. It is quite refreshing and very often well needed. Freshman Baseball has started and it looks like Trevor will be catching and pitching for LQHS. Go Blackhawks!

NATALIE
Lady Bug is growing some pretty big wings these days. She is completly head over heals for the Young Woman program in our church and is developing a self confidence in herself that is amazing! Since Natalie was 10 years old she has been trying to find a way to make money of her own. Through the help of Grandma Hampton she has been able to fine tune her filling and accounting skills while helping with her taxes and just recently has begun baby sitting which she really likes! Most of all she really enjoys having money in her wallet that she can call her own.

SAVANNAH
Savannah decided to enter the year book cover contest and found out the first of the year that she won the front cover! If I could only have captured and saved the expression on her face when she found out she won. Being the over achiever she is, Savannah made the decision to do a Science Fair Project this year (it was not required). With some help from Devin, she managed to take first place and also move onto the District level for more judging. The title of her project was, "Does the color of momma hen and daddy rooster effect the outcome of the baby chick?" Not only did we managed to complete a sucsessfull science fair project...we hatched some more chicks in the process! What mother wouldn't be thrilled about multi-tasking? Savannah is playing softball for the first time and Gerald is coaching softball for the first time...it should make for some great entertainment this Spring!

We've always known we had a Lady Bug in the family...

and Savannah has always been the Sheriff in town keeping even her father in line.

Devin turned into a Turtle after his accident in July...

and Trevor's costume was unveiled very last minute... some are just "too cool" for Halloween Festiveness. I chose my costume as Greek Goddess...the kids thought it would be funny to call me a "white sheet". Have I not earned a little respect after 17 years of selfless giving as their Mother???

October 2010

Devin started his physical therapy. Snap... crackle... pop...is what his body is saying! He is happy to be free of the "turtle shell" and has started driving again. After breaking his back in July and realizing his water polo season would be shot...Devin decided to try out for the fall play, "Noises Off". There are only 9 cast member in the whole play and he's one of them! It is a cast of all Seniors except of course himself, the only Junior in the cast. They perform November 19, 20, 21.

Trevor's freshman football team is having a great year. They are currently 5-1 and with 62 boys on the team roster he is learning how to fight for his possession on the team. The results from his weight lifting class this year are showing as we watch his shoulders broaden and his muscles thicken. He has such a good attitude about waking up every morning for seminary and looks forward to Tuesday morning breakfast at Panera with seminary friends.

Natalie is really enjoying her advanced art class this year and has decided to be a lady bug for Halloween. 7th grade is agreeing with her as she grows and develops as a person a little more each day. She has taken a huge interest in eating healthy and really feels good! Natalie and Savannah have such a sweet relationship! I guess they have what you would call a good "check and balance" system going...Savannah is constantly checking and Natalie balances everything out...Thanks Natalie!

Savannah is still trying to figure out if her 4th grade teacher Mrs. Houx likes her or not. She has been in trouble a few times for talking in class and is constantly striving to show her teacher that she is a good student! We have talked on many occasions about different personalities and how to get along with each of their differences. She is a perfectionist and has a strong desire to not only succeed but be the best! She is currently working on entering a contest to have her drawing picked for the cover of this years school yearbook.
We made another quick trip to Utah towards the end of September to be with my sister Audri for her wedding. The youngest of 12 in my family got hitched! Congratulations Jeff and Audri Longman!

Man, the focus has been so much and Devin's Back Brace...I forgot to post that Natalie got a brace too (lots of little ones on her teeth). I think we all agree she wears her braces very well.

Home Sweet Home

We are back in California and it does feel good. Our trip to Utah was "eventful" to say the least and long memories were created! We ended our stay with a fun trip to the thrift store "Savers". We decided to create a "Christmas in August" shopping spree allowing everyone $5 to spend on the a name that was drawn out of a hat. The person who could spend the least amount of money and purchase the most unique gift would win! After about 20 minutes...we had all finalized our purchases and were exchanging gifts in the parking lot... what a hoot!

Devin is doing amazing...nothing new to post other than he is relaxing and eating better than he ever could in the Hospital. I just had to post a few pictures of Devin leaving the Hospital. His last nurse in Pediatrics had a great personality and drew a picture of Devin on the hospital room window. The picture is of Devin riding his ATV off the cliff...

Devin has made huge progress and is being discharged from the Hospital today! Since home is over 500 miles away, we will be making ourselves at home here is Utah through the week while Devin does some adjusting and we prepare to travel back home. The love and support we have had here in Utah has been very comforting to all of us.

Trevor, Natalie and Savannah have been able to spend time with the Gibb side of the family and carry on with a semi- normal family vacation less their big brother Devin. Gerald has done an amazing job taking care of Devin's needs and keeping everything under control at the Hospital. I seem to be floating back and forth making sure every ones needs are met (if that's possible).

Tori (Devin's girlfriend) flew into Salt Lake Sunday evening and has definitely lifted Devin's spirits as well. The saying, "It takes a tribe to raise a family"...couldn't be any more true than right now. There is no possible way as parents to do it all and Gerald and I are so thankful for the friends and family near and far that lend their support our way. We are ready to take on our next adventure for the next few months and have Devin home from the Hospital.

Yesterday ended up being a day of pain control and much needed rest for Devin. His spirits are still good and like his usual self he does a great job entertaining the people around him. I get tears in my eyes every time I hear him recount his experience on 6 mile canyon in Sterling, UT. He describes his ATV ride as the best ever...no regrets! If we could all live by that principle...think how full filling life would be!

The anticipation of walking for the first time was almost unbearable... but he did it! Up on his feet, supported by his back brace, Devin took two laps around ICU. As a reward for his hard work he got a bath and brushed his teeth. The only draw back to this whole scenario was his father and male nurse Mike were the care givers. No luck in the cute blond nurse department...

Talk about Dejavu...yesterday was a whirlwind of events that made me feel like I was reliving February 28th, 2009 all over again! I am seeing a little clearer this morning and wanted to share a little information with our friends and family on Devin's ATV accident. I don't know what's worse...waiting in a hospital room for test and radiology reports or being 600 miles away when someone you love is in a major accident (Gerald and I will debate that later). Once again, I had my camera with me and was able to record some of the events from yesterday. Your texts, voice mails, prayers and phone calls are so appreciated. There is no question in my mind that Devin's 250 foot fall was cushioned by angels. The Lord has a definite plan and purpose for this kid!!!

Mom's Are Human Too

There are times in a mothers life when we realize we are human. This became a realization when Devin and I showed up 7 hours late for a very much anticipated appointment at the DMV! Devin's excitement was crushed when he was told he missed his behind the wheel driving appointment and his only option was to make another appointment later in the month (he was less than thrilled with his mother). As I began to turn to apologize, I was abruptly cut off with a ...""Don't even say it Mom." There was no arguing... I couldn't change what had just happened and nothing that I could say would make it better. We rode home in silence as I thought about how I should have or could have done a few things differently earlier that day to prevent the mix-up.

There are also times in a mothers life when your children completely surprise you with their ability to overcome obstacles in their life and move ahead! Upon returning home Devin disappeared in the house and I immediately began to research when another appointment at the DMV would be available. Not but 15 min. had passed and Devin engulfed me in a hug saying, "It's no big deal Mom". He had rearranged his date plans for the night and put the past behind him just like that. Man, I really love that kid!

I was able to schedule an appointment for one week later and on July 6th, Devin received his drivers license. Maybe if he had taken his test one week earlier he wouldn't have had Lupe as his instructor? She was so darn cute we had to have a picture with her!

Fourth of July in Big Bear California

Any chance we get to ecape the heat we jump at it! July 3rd was spent at Troy's for a swim party and BBQ and the 4th was spent in Big Bear with Grandpa and Grandma Hampton. Hal and Shela are running a church camp for the second year in a row. They did such a dynamite job the first year... they asked them back for a repeat season in the mountains. Everyone loves the them and all they do to serve on their mission April through October.

Fireworks in Big Bear are some of the best to be seen and to top it off, the back ground is Big Bear Lake. The Pyke Family had a big Fourth of July Celebration at their home on the lake so we had perfect seats for the show! It really was a picture perfect day spent with freinds and family and patriotism was in the air for sure. Natalie commented on how Sue had decorated everything so perefectly...
... red, white and blue was everywhere!

Pioneer Trek

The worst of times...the best of times...the dirtiest of times...

Gerald and I had the opportunity to be a Ma and Pa for the Pioneer Trek. Devin and Trevor were also part of the Trek and if you were to ask any of us how it went... we'd all have a different response.
Trevor would tell you that he would have never made it as a Pioneer and you'll never see him on another Trek... but his Ma and Pa were pretty cool and had good snacks.

Devin would tell you..."Read my 5 page journal excerpt...I sound just like Joseph Smith. It was so cool except for when I rolled down the hill and found every sticker and thorn inside my overalls!"

Gerald had everyone of his new family members nick named and whooped into shape by the first 30 minutes.

I was in awe of the reality I felt being a Pioneer and the daily obstacles they had to overcome. An awesome experience! We all spent a few days talking about our own experiences, laughing and sharing our new found love and appreciation for the pioneers. However, there is a reason they only do this trek every 4 years...

Our 96 year old Grandma Green past away this June. Her funeral was really more a celebration of life than anything. Tears that were shed were for the wonderful memories she has given her posterity to keep in our hearts and thoughts. It was a great trip to the Pacific Northwest especially being greeted by blue skies and warm weather! We managed to drive through our old stomping grounds of Canby, Oregon and a quick visit to the Coast as well. The sights and familiar smells put smiles on all our faces as we spent the weekend remembering Grandma and Grandpa Green and the wonderful lives we had as children growing up in Oregon.

You would think I'm the one having a baby with the excitement that is in the air. Momma Chick has been sitting on her eggs for 21 days now. Any day we will have little chicks running around the coop again (21 days beats the heck out of 40 weeks...chickens got it easy!)

The girls competed in their first swim meet. It was a very long day to say the least...7:30 am - 5:30 pm (and I thought baseball games were long). They had fun and learned alot and in the end that's what it's all about. Natalie was so excited to share with her Dad she had placed 3rd when Savannah called her out on there only being 3 people in her heat. You gotta love little sisters! LOL!!!

April 27th, 2010

Natalie had here 12th birthday! She was Happy with a trip to the Mall with her good friend. They browsed shops, got pedicures and ate dinner at Pat and Oscars. The Young Women in our church kidnapped Natalie and took her to Yogurt as a suprise. Good times!

April 29th, 2010

The whole family...I mean the whole Hampton Family (all 26 of us) headed to Conrad, Montana for Gramma B's 100th Birthday. We flew in with a snow storm and were stuck at Great Falls Airport until power lines were cleared from the road. Quite an experience for us Desert Rats... Once getting to Montana, we met up with more extended family and managed to book the entire Super 8 Motel. Our weekend was filled with lots of Berthelson Family time (good thing there is lots of us cause there's not a whole lot to do in Conrad, Montana). We were able to have a few good visits with Grandma B and loved every bit of seeing her anticipation for the Big Town Party in her behalf. There were many priceless moments spent together with family from near and far and we thoroughly enjoyed the serenity of Montana. Best of all was seeing the beauty in the eyes of our family Matriarch and sharing in her turn of a Century.

May 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th, 2010

Devin performed in the LaQuinta High School musical, "Suessical". Bright colors, fun music, and lots of talent were displayed by the cast. Devin was a Wilkersham Brother (monkey) and played the part perfectly. He ended the whole experience hungry for more!

In between all of that other non-sense we've been busy gardening, playing kick ball in the back yard, gather and selling eggs and getting ready for summer. It's been a great Spring all around and is really hard to believe another school year is almost behind us.

I disagree with what Devin quoted throughout the day..."It's just another day". Our oldest son is now 16! It's a crazy feeling for us as parents. However, Devin has always been very mature for his age and he is more than ready to be 16, driving and dating. He got his drivers permit the end of December and will be eligible to get his license the end of June. He will be an expert on the road after driving an Excursion during his learning curve. We couldn't ask for a better example as the oldest in our family and it is really thrilling to watch him grow up. The family helped compile a book for his birthday listing all the great traits Devin has according to the ABC's. Here is a photo of him reading it.

Savannah celebrated her 9th birthday with a few freinds at home. The evening consisted of face painting, coloring contests and hula hoop. The highlight of the evening was a real live magic show! The girls tried their best to figure out the tricks (there were lots of giggles and squeels). It just so happens, every little girls favorite dinner is Dino Nuggets, Mac n' Cheese, and Orange Slices! We've walked all of Monaco that could possibly be walked and decided that since they only show movies in French we would spend our fifth day in Monaco inside a Mini Cooper driving to Canes, France. The inside of the Cooper was a little cramped and we were unable to get actual footage so I will paint a mental picture for you. A Mini Cooper isn't the most ideal vehicle for 3 full grown Americans especially one being 6'3". Our 4 passanger vehicle quickly turned to 3 passanger after Troy was uninimusly voted chofure for the day and moved his seat into driving position. I was given the front passanger seat after having a closterfobic spazz attach in the back and Sarah graciously shared what was left of the back seat with Devin while we went on our way. Due to the driving conditions here most vehicles are either missing their side mirrors or they are somewhat damaged. Let's just say the larger vehicle on the street always has the right of way and most streets look the size of a side walk.
While starting on our adventure Troy felt it was best to follow a local driver. I'm pretty sure we made it to the highest point overlooking Monaco. Despite the rain, it was a beautiful view and we continued on to Canes. Canes is well known for their film festivlas (so we hear). This particular day it was full of cold wind and alot of rain. Needless to say, we found some great shops and a dry warm pizzaria to have lunch. After being "Cooped" up for long enough and being unable to find a Starbucks for hot chocolate or carmel apple cider we retired to our rooms for another 6 hour nap thus ending our day. We're headed to Italy tomorrow for shopping and hopefully no rain...

Monaco, Monte Carlo

It only took 15 hours of travel time and Devin and I ended up half way around the world! We are in Monaco which lies between France and Italy right on the Mediteranean Sea. After surviving a long day of travel and two days of rain we are finding ourselves right at home here in Monaco loving the food, the language and the scenery. I'd have to say the highlight of the trip so far has been simply walking the streets and enjoying the architectual beauty of the city. Everywhere you turn there is something that catches the eye and leaves you in awe of what was created hundreds of years ago.

Grandma and Grandpa Hampton are home and we welcomed them with hugs and scary costumes. We had the job of keeping them away from home so the Halloween party could be a surprise (easier said than done...) We actually did it! Hal and Shela hopped in our car and upon returning from the Micheal Jackson movie...they were surprised with a house full of goblins. We are happy they chose to serve a mission but are also glad to have them back home.

PDLQ vs. INDIO

How often to you get to witness a 0-0 football game with only 2 minutes 35 seconds in the 4th quarter. Both teams were evenly matched and played outstanding football. With a few minutes to go in the 4th, and Indio on their 2 yard line, our defense held them from scoring. However, this put us on their 2 yard line with the ball. Our fears were a reality when we fumbled the ball and they got a saftey putting 2 points on the score board. We got the ball back with 20 seconds to go and Trevor threw the most beautiful pass for an 85 yard play and touch down... the sidelines went absolutely crazy!!! We won the game...It's games with this kind of intensity and victory that make the months of hard work and sweat pay off.

Devin spent the summer getting ready for his new chicks. What this really entailed was building a chicken coop. On September 03, 2009 we received a call from the post office that Devin's 26 baby chicks had arrived. Since then, we've all had fun watching these adorable little fluffy birds eat, sleep, chirp and grow at such a rapid pace it's crazy! We've already moved them from their temporary home to the actual coop. We are all looking forward to fresh eggs this winter and Devin will be starting his own egg business for some pocket money and hopefully he'll be making enough to put some away for his mission. Anyone want fresh eggs?

Summer Vacation Highlights

June 20th - 27th
Summer vacation started out with Devin going to Big Bear as a youth camp counselor for YMCA Camp Oaks. He came back with a new understanding of just how much patience it takes to keep 8, 9, and 10 year old children in line. He also is thinking about writing a book..."Impromptu Bedtime Stories" (guaranteed to put your kids to sleep). He found that bribery works very well and candy is a definate motivator.
July 4th Weekend
Indepence Weekend started off with our Aunt Sarah's baptism. Awesome experience for us all. We couldn't be more excited for Troy & Sarah and their beautiful family. We BBQ'd and enjoyed the Water Park Oasis in their backyard. Fourth of July ended in Big Bear where we met Grandpa and Grandma Hampton for a boat ride on the lake watching the most amazing fireworks ever!
Water Polo Camp
Natalie and Savannah participated in a water polo camp at LaQuinta High School and Devin helped coach the program. What a blast! The kids formed teams, played games, kept cool and had a great time learning the game.
July 10th - 17th
Trevor was asked by the Desert City Slugger to accompany their team to Cooperstown, NY and play baseball. Gerald also went as a coach to experience Cooperstown Village once again. The team went 7-1 loosing in the semi final game. They ended up placing 4th out if 24 teams.
July 13th - 18th
Devin attended Especialy for Youth @ BYU. He was able to attend with 3 of his cousins who live in Utah. Nathan, Erica, Samantha and Devin had an incredible time together. The boys ate cold cereal 3 meals a day. They both commented on "The Cereal Wall" that saved their lives because the food was so bad. On the flip side, the girls swear they gained 5 pounds from all the great food their cafeteria had to offer. Food aside, they came home uplifted and inspired having had an amazing experience.
July 15th
Natalie, Savannah and Aunt Lynelle made my birthday extra special this year. I had a fun lunch date with sisters in Salt Lake and shopping at Nordstrom Rack.
July 19th - 21st
The Gibb Family Reunion started with church in Brigham City. Josh spoke in his ward after returning from his mission in Monterey, Mexico. Monday the family hiked to Timpanogos Caves. Tuesday we went on a bike ride through Provo Canyon and BBQ'd. The kids had tons of fun at Grandpa and Grandma Gibb's house using the new zip line in their back yard from the tree house.
July 29th - August 2nd
Our baseball season ended with a great weekend enjoying the cool weather in San Diego. The team battled back making it to the championship game. We ended up loosing in the championship game... it was heart breaking. Looking back, it was a great season of growth and accomplishment as a whole.
August
Gerald and Trevor have already transitioned into football crazy as it sounds. The month of August will be spent conditioning and getting ready for games that begin in September. Devin also starts his Water Polo conditioning with the High School in hopes for a position on the varsity team. We will all do our best to endure the rest of the hot summer in hopes for early Fall weather (if we could only be so lucky).

Father's Day...40th...Championship

It was a very happening Fathers Day weekend this year. Along with it being Dad's Day, it was Gerald's 40th birthday. He received some great gifts from the players that will be used in the near future(reading glasses, denture powder and cream, self portrait of a 90 year old coach, nerf football). To top off the weekend, Trevor's team won the championship game ranking Team STC 1st in USSSA Baseball - AAA Division. Lots of laughs, good freinds, nice weather, championship game victory...One Great Weekend!

08-09 School Year Ends

It's hard to believe another school year has ended. We were blessed with beautiful 80 degree weather the last few weeks of school making end of the year activities much more enjoyable this year.
Savannah received student of the month ending the second grade just like she had hoped for. She also loved their second grade water day which consisted of blowing bubbles, side walk chalk, cleaning desks with shaving cream and ending in the fire department coming to the school and spraying their fire hose over the school yard while the kids ran and played under the downpour.

Natalie ended her school year with an outstanding power point presentation in front of the school and parents. The 5th graders were all required to pick a topic of conflict that was of interests to them, research the topic and come up with a way they could make a difference and help in their community. Natalie chose "Homelessness" and her group sold waters at the school to help raise funds for the local Coachella Valley Rescue Mission. We all celebrated in her moving on to Middle School and she was surprised to also be awarded the Presidents Academic Award in her class.

Trevor got involved with the campus beautification for John Glenn Middle School this year. We were able to help in donating some trees for the campus.

Devin survived his frosh year at LaQuinta High. He decided to throw a party in celebration of this... "La fiesta Del Fuego". Everyone who came to the party was required to bring notebooks, tests, papers etc. to burn in a bon fire bidding good riddens to their Freshman year.

Gramma B's 99th Birthday

For Gramma B's 99th birthday this year a handful of the family made a last minute trip to Montana. Our trip happened to be 2 days after a major storm. It was beautiful weather with lots of snow on the ground accented by sunny skies. The highlight of our trip was without a doubt, seeing Gramma B's face when we surprised her unannounced during lunch at her home. She was able to meet Harley (Troy's son) and Preston (Trina's son) for the first time which was priceless. She is still as strong willed and determined as ever and has her outfit and earings already picked out for next years 100th. Devin was able to play on stage at the Orpheum Theater in Conrad, Montana. Take a look it was so cool!

April Updates

The month of April started off with the annual Spring Break Vacation with Grandpa and Grandma Hampton (grandkids 10 years and up). They set sail from San Diego on April 2nd, destination was Encinata, Mexico. This year there was a total of 7 grandkids that qualified for the trip three of which were Devin, Trevor and Natalie. Everyone came home with great stories to share. The kids really look forward to this trip with their Grandparents and cousins and are so fortunate to have Grandparents that extend this annual invite. Our actual Spring Break was very low key and relaxing with an overnight trip to Trina's house and Laguna Beach.

Easter Eggs turned out extra unique this year. Hailey, Harley and Aunt Sarah joined in the fun and the evening ended in a much needed bubble bath. The Easter Eggg Hunt was a little extra exciting too. By the time all the eggs were hidden the kids were finding eggs at dusk and into the dark. It was a challenge for sure!

The month couldn't have ended any better that with Devin getting a clean bill of health from the Neurologist and getting his neck brace off after 8 weeks on 4/27/09. After taking the brace off Devin described the feeling as this, "Like an orange on top of a toothpick".

Smooth Sailing Waters

It was the sweetest sound to hear the piano being played the morning after Devin came home from the hospital. I could not have felt more gratitude in my heart at that very moment. We are really enjoying the calm waters all around us right now. Devin is doing fantastic and has been back to school for a full week now. He is healing incredibly fast and rarely needs any pain medicine. With youth on his side and a very strong will, his life and routine are quickly returning to normal. We see the Neuro Surgeon on April 13th and will possibly get his neck brace off. Devin is a walking miracle and we count our blessings as a family everyday. Thank you again and again for the prayers and oodles of support that are directed our way.

Broken Neck and Broken Hearts

It just doesn't feel right going to bed tonight without summing up and sharing the last 30 hours which feels more like 30 days. There has been an overflowing amount of love and prayers directed our way since finding out that Devin had in fact broken his neck on February 29th,2009 at aprox. 11:30 am. As a result, Devin is sitting up in his hopsital bed tonight eating terrible hospital food, but thanking the Lord that he is eating, breathing and moving his fingers and toes. We actually have video footage of Devin breaking his neck and he is excited to have everyone share in his experience.
We are very tired tonight but will sleep sound knowing that our eldest son is with us and on his way to a full recovery. Given the circumstances, his sergury went perfectly! They fused C5 which had been shattered and bolted C4, C5, and C6 together due to the torn ligaments also found in his neck. It looks like Devin will be in the hospital for about 3 days and will come home from there with a neck brace for another 6 weeks or so. We wanted you all to see him in action during his stay in the Emergency Room at Loma Linda Hospital. This video clip shows Devin singing the rap he made up during his MRI. Doctors and nurses came from everywhere to hear him sing his song. He continues to win the hearts of everyone he comes in contact with and is truly an amazing kid...
I forgot to turn off the camera and kept recording for awhile. The conversation is pretty funny if you keep listening..oopps!

We tried to suprise Devin with a few of his good freinds at Red Robin after Water Polo and we found out that he is just like every Hampton male...impossible to suprise! Take note the female to male ration in this birthday photo. Devin's freind Matthew was in charge of inviting Devin's freinds.

The Month of December started off with an incredible Ward Christmas Bruch. Devin was asked to be Santa's Elf for the afternoon. He did such a great job he was also hired to make an appearance at someones family Christmas Party. Priceless!
The girls both displayed their colorguard skills at the Tamale Festival Parade and their Christmas concert later in the month. The color guard Team was a little close together while twirling their flags...long story short, Savannah left with a bump on her head. Most of her evening was spent holding ice on her head. Priceless!

We also had our annual Hampton Christmas Dinner at the Davis'. The Navitiy Story keeps getting better and better as cousins grow up and new baby cousins are added to the mix. Priceless!

There is no doubt that December 2008 came and went faster than any of us could blink. Each of the kids are sure to remind Gerald and I of our family traditions in making sure that we experience them every single year. Even though the traditions are the same, every year their is a little different twist to them as we grow and change as a family. Priceless!

Feeling Great in Fall of '08

For those of you that are from the Desert... you know how we look forward to our second of the two seasons we are graced with. There is our Summer season that we endure for about 4 - 5 months and then a mix of beautiful Fall and Spring for the the other 7 - 8 months of the year. We are now experiencing the weather that most would describe as "A little bit of heaven". Football, cheer, and water polo seasons are coming to an end. We are always glad to have a little more time back in our schedules but at the same time are sad to see the seasons come to an end.
Devin had a very successful Water Polo season joining the J.V. Team at the last minute. His great swimming abilities and competitive nature was an asset to the team and he will continue to swim year round as he hopes to secure a spot on Varsity as a Sophomore next year! Devin never ceases to amaze those around him with his determination and 100% attitude in everything he does. His Halloween costume this year was evidence of that. Devin also leaves for a weekend trip to Northern California for the start of his Youth and Government training and elections this Winter. It is the first of three trip that give the Youth the opportunity to learn and actually run the government in Sacramento this February.

Trevor continues to excel as quarterback and linebacker for his football team. They have advanced to the playoffs and will continue their season until they lose. Savannah lives to cheer for her brothers games. She really does love it and as the yougest on her squad has no problem getting the crowd fired up! She will have cheer competion in a few weeks and is working hard with her team to fine tune their routine for a hopefull 1st place!

Natalie was able to attend science camp with her 5th grade class and had story after story to share upon her return. She is participating in colorguard with her elementary school along with Savannah and they will march in a few parades this Winter. Her 5th grade teacher Mr. Macro took on the challenging craft of plaster masks this Halloween. What a memory!

OREGON

What would you do if your best friend you haven't seen in 4 years called you up and offered you a plane ticket to meet her in your quaint hometown of Canby Oregon? Not only that, she has tickets to the USC vs. OSU game which ends up being one of the biggest upsets the year! You are also given the opportunity to see your 95 year old Grandma Green, and it wouldn't be complete without a good old fashioned slumber party with your best of friends. Your trip will end having dinner with 15 of your old High School class mates. I know... it's a tough decision for me too, but of course I accepted! What can I say? It was an incredible weekend with beautiful Oregon weather packed full of seing good friends and family the whole time. PRICELESS

Labor Day Weekend At The Lake '08

We ended our Summer @ Lake Mead over Labor Day Weekend. It was our one and only boat trip this whole summer. We are feeling the effects of our children growing older and their schedules dictating more and more of our family outings. Nevertheless, it was a weekend never to be forgotten (to say the least)! We enjoyed Las Vegas, cool water, and a beautiful suite @ The Mirage (thanks to our Uncle Troy who always pulls through for us).

We are back in full swing with school, football, cheer, piano, and early morning seminary for Devin this year. Kids are tired when the sun goes down and we all sleep extremely hard until right before the sun comes up, just in time to do it all over again. A good friend of ours said, "Everyday is a good day when you're sucking oxygen". We are sucking lots of oxygen and extremely happy about that. We also realize that no matter how hectic life gets or what problems come our way, we can build upon the strengths of everyone around us and become our own person. Isn't Life great?

Summer coming to an end...

July just flew by with so many incredible activities. The month ended with a trip to Utah for the Gibb Family Reunion @ Palasides Park. We had a great "long weekend" (not long enough) paddling canoes, swimming, bike riding, golfing, and setting off water firecrackers with Grandma! We have so many great cousins, aunts and uncles to laugh and play with, and always look forward to the Gibb reunion!

July 27th - Devin accompanied our ward for the whole sacrament meeting and played "Come Thou Font of Every Blessing" as a rest hymn for our good friend Jim Parks (it's his favorite hymn found in the old hymn book) It took great lengths for Devin to get the approval from our new Bishop in order to play the hymn as a surprise for Jim. Trevor also passed the sacrament for the first time with his Dad that same Sunday.

July 28th - August 2nd

I have the most incredible week at Girls Camp for our Church. Being in charge of 95 girls and leaders was very eventful to say the least. Especially with a nightly visit from a friendly black bear we named "Bob". He was only interested in the leftovers that could be found in the dumpsters (thank goodness). The highlight of my week was the 6.5 mile hike up Cougar Crest Trail. What a view!

Devin and Trevor are at Scout Camp this week we will soon hear of all their adventures... It is their first year at Camp together...Devin was sure to help his brother prepare...he is such an awesome big brother.

We are now in full swing of Football and Cheer practices with games starting September 6th, doing our best to endure the hottest part of the Summer. We really can't wait for some fall weather!

Trevor received the priesthood on June 29th, 2008 in Indio, CA. After his bishops interview this prior Sunday he came out the Bishops office and asked, "How long was I in there?" I answered, "About 15 minutes, what did you talk about?" His reply was this, "We talked about the priesthood and what it means and then we talked a lot about baseball." Bishops really are in tune with what each individual needs.

Cooperstown, NY

We are here living one of Trevor's biggest dreams in Oneonta, NY @ All Star Village Cooperstown! What an awesome experience it has been so far starting with the Yankee vs. Red Sox game on the 4th of July! This tournament is all about the kids making their experience one they will never forget while staying on site all week with their coaches and all the other teams competing in the tournament. Devin and I will see Gerald and Trevor at the games and briefly in between. During our spare time Devin could be found BBQing at our cabin, hiking the local trails or video taping the gorgeous scenery of New York! The Desert Storm won their first game today 15-5 with Trevor pitching the first 4 innings. Stay posted for more great news to come!

Devin Promotes from 8th grade

Devin had the honor of speaking at his 8th grade promotion on June 12th. He did an incredible job standing side by side with the ASB President and together they spoke to their 8th grade class summing up the last 3 years. There was no lack of emotion on Devin's part as you could feel every bit of his heart in his speech through tears and laughs both. He also received the Ambassadors Award presented by the Vice Principal. Here are a few thoughts from some of Devin's teachers.

Dan Mesa one of our security agents has a this to say, “Devin doesn’t use the cross walk in the mornings and he runs thru traffic, other than that Devin is a fine young man and he represents John Glenn to the fullest.”

· “As a teacher we have the privilege of working with some amazing students and when I think of Devin he is definitely one of the incredible ones. I was a student teacher in Devin's 4th grade class and even though it was an outstanding class in itself Devin still was a star that shone brightly. He was one of those kids you just sit back and watch in awe. He is not only inspiring to his peers but to others around him as well. He engages in higher level thinking conversations but has the unique ability to tailor those conversations to meet the need of his audience. I consider myself privileged to have had the opportunity to have had my teaching experience include Devin. I will always remember him and look forward to watching him continue to succeed through life. I knew then and I know now that he'd make a great President of the United States one day!! You have my vote Devin! Congratulations!”

· Devin was IB before he was even an IB student! As his fourth grade teacher, I had the pleasure of working with Devin at Monroe Elementary. Monroe is not an IB school, but as I am now at an IB school, I can look back at Devin and realize that he is, in fact, a near perfect example of all the attributes that make up an IB student.
Devin demonstrated an inquirer-type mind from day one of his fourth grade year. He strived to know the answers, but more than that, he wanted to know WHY those were the answers. His level of knowledge was inspiring to me. He seemed to pick things up almost instantly. Devin had the ability to communicate with a wide gamut of people; from special needs children to his 4th grade peers to adults in the school. Perhaps Devin’s most outstanding quality is his ability to care for those around him and across the globe. Devin was always the first one to pick up on someone having a bad day and immediately strive to make that person feel better. He would do without so that others could have something. This is a quality that is VERY rare in someone, much less someone in the fourth grade!

· Ms. Graham, his language arts teacher said, “He works hard to get what he earns. Always, every day, Devin has greeted me with a “Good morning” and left in the afternoon with “Have a nice day”. I will miss this because he always has this remarkable good nature. Devin sees things that need doing and just does them. He is always ready to drop what he is doing to help others whether it be to familiarize a new student with the campus, help a teacher, or work with a student on homework. His assignments have been creative, and he is a definite “Risk-taker”. He loves a challenge and always goes for something that is different. He always works to solve situations. Rarely ever complains, because he is able to find the good in something even when it’s difficult or work a solution to make a bad situation better. He is a tremendously good sport, expressive, sensitive, and very well disciplined. He has the poise of a much older person, and would be an outstanding ambassador or liaison between countries.

· Mr. Singer wrote, “Devin exemplifies many qualities of the IB Learners Profile, but I believe his greatest strength is Caring. There was a student in my class who had difficulties at school and at home, and Devin took this student under his wing. He tutored, coached, and mentored this student all year long. He requested a seat next to this student in my class so that he could continue to help the student if needed. Devin is truly an exceptional person with a great heart. He is a credit to John Glenn and the entire IB program.

· Mr. Gubler shared that Devin has a natural curiosity that empowers his creativeness. He takes it upon himself to work either independently or as a team leader to complete a task at hand. If in his creative process he stumbles against an obstacle, he takes it upon himself to overcome the issue so that the project can be completed to its highest possible level.

Ms. Rutledge wrote, “Devin meets, and excels well beyond the highest expectations of any teacher, or adult, and he does it gracefully on the sole foundation of respect. He has learned that school, and life in general, is all about trying your best, building caring relationships and having the courage to take initiative in efforts to promote a positive experience, whatever it maybe, for both himself and all those around him.”
